  • First, hanging shelves should be installed, so more storage space will be created. And then, the canisters for baking supplies, spices, small appliances or cookware should be stored, you can store them on your newly hung shelves.
  • And the second thing you have to do is remove the top cabinets if there is already enough adequate storage space in the kitchen. You have to know that the appearance of more space will be created by the removal of the top cabinets because the perimeter is pushed back by it. Alternatively, the open shelves or hooks might be installed in place of the top cabinets if the issue of this project is the storage space.
  • Next, a pot rack should be hung above the stove, from the ceiling or bare patch of the wall. You have to know that convenient access will be provided by the pot racks to cookware and free up cabinet space. And then, an extra rack should be considered to be installed, so the dish towels or cooking utensils can be hung.
  • After that, colorful accents should be added throughout the room, so the eyes will have a place to go first when walking into the kitchen. You have to keep in your mind that dark colored accents cannot be used, and also remember that painting entire walls in dark colors should be avoided, because dark colors will make your room look smaller.
  • And the next thing you have to remember is to install sheer curtains, so the light will be allowed to come in. And then, a large mirror can be installed, because the light will be reflected by the mirror, brightening up the room. You can also install two mirrors on opposite walls if there is no window in your kitchen.

  • After that, the appliances should be consolidated; the ones you don’t use might be given away or sold. The appliances that have several functions should be kept, such as a smoothie maker and a food processor.
  • And the last point you have to do is a work surface that doubles as storage should be brought in. A rolling island or cart might be used if there is the floor space.  It can be used as a work surface when needed, and the things should be considered on the bottom, and it should be tucked in a corner when you are not using it.
